Q: SHOULD I FINANCE OR LEASE?
Leasing allows you to pay for the portion of the vehicle's value you expect to use over a period of time, plus a borrowing charge and any applicable taxes.

Some of the benefits of leasing are:

  • Lower monthly payments (because you are only paying for a portion of the total vehicle cost)
  • This can allow you to get a more luxurious model or more features than if you chose to finance
  • A lease term is typically shorter than a finance term allowing you to drive a new car more often

Purchase financing is an installment sale transaction between you, a bank and your dealer where you pay the total amount of the vehicle (including all applicable dealer fees, taxes freight and so forth), plus an agreed-upon finance charge, over a period of time up to 7 years (depending on available options for your particular vehicle).

Some of the benefits of financing are:

  • You will own the vehicle and therefore it will be registered in your name,
  • You can trade in your vehicle when ready to purchase another to add to your down payment amount (and subsequently reduce your monthly payments),
  • You can keep your vehicle as long as you wish and there are no kilometre restrictions
  • You may alter your vehicle in any way you wish and there are no wear and tear limitations

In summary, if you drive fewer than 24,000 kilometres a year, like to be in a vehicle that is under warranty and like the idea of having a new vehicle every 2-4 years you should lease. If you plan to drive your vehicle for more than just a few years, consistently drive over 24,000 kilometres a year, like to alter the vehicle's appearance or if you feel more comfortable with the idea of owning a vehicle, financing is probably right for you.

Q: HOW ARE TRADE-IN VALUES DECIDED?
Your trade-in value is determined by an inspection from our *Sales Manager and varies based on many factors including mileage, the overall condition of your vehicle, the popularity of your vehicle and current regional market conditions.

For Pre-Owned

Q: WHAT DOES CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED (CPO) MEAN?
Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles are backed with a manufacturer's warranty and guarantees that qualified technicians who use factory-approved parts have serviced your car or truck. Vehicles are not eligible to be marketed as Certified Pre-Owned vehicles unless the dealer first performs all open safety, emissions and non-compliance recall repairs.

You also get a minimum of 3 months or 5,000 kilometres (whichever comes first) Used Vehicle Limited Warranty. You also have the option to extend or upgrade to an even more comprehensive Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Protection Plan.

Should you ever decide to sell your vehicle, you'll be able to transfer any existing warranties to its new owner.

Q: WHY SHOULD I SERVICE MY VEHICLE AT GAUTHIER GMC BUICK CADILLAC?

Q: WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN MY ENGINE LIGHT IS ON?
The check engine light is a general warning light that can mean a number of things (from your fuel cap not being on tight enough, to spark plugs or a number of various valves and sensors). Q: DO I NEED A COSIGNER?
Co-signers are not mandatory, but may be advantageous depending on each individual circumstance. Your financing expert will be able to help you determine this, even before you apply.

Q: WHAT IF I'VE DECLARED BANKRUPTCY? HOW LONG WOULD IT BE BEFORE I CAN GET APPROVED FOR A CAR LOAN?
It can be possible to get approved for a car loan or financing as soon as the day after you apply for bankruptcy without having to wait for a discharge. If you've recently applied for bankruptcy we'll work with you and do our very best to get you approved.

Q: DO I HAVE TO PUT MONEY DOWN?
In most cases money down isn't required. However, to help reduce your monthly payments and the interest charges associated, we do recommend putting some money down on the vehicle that you're about to purchase and/or trading-in a vehicle.
Q: CAN I APPLY FOR A CAR LOAN OR FINANCING ONLINE?
Absolutely! Applying from home is often the easiest way. That’s why we've developed a secure way for you to do so. Q: HOW CAN I BE SURE I'LL GET A GOOD INTEREST RATE?
Our credit specialists work with multiple financial institutions and check all available rates to ensure you'll get the best one. We do not guarantee one lender will get our business, like some other car dealers. Instead, we work with 15 lenders and have them work for your business.
Q: WHAT DETERMINES THE INTEREST RATE I WILL GET?
Personal credit history, the amount you're looking to finance, term of the loan and the age of the vehicle you're about to purchase are the main factors in determining what rate you will pay.

Q: WHAT DOCUMENTS DO I NEED TO BRING WHEN FINALIZING MY APPLICATION?
You will need to be sure to bring a current paystub to prove your income, valid driver's licence and a void cheque. Further information may be required depending on approvals.

Q: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ALL-WHEEL DRIVE (AWD) AND FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE (4X4)?
A vehicle equipped with all-wheel drive temporarily transfers power to all four driving wheels automatically when the need is sensed by the vehicle. A vehicle equipped with four-wheel drive (4x4) can transfer power from two wheels to all four wheels upon driver demand, usually by pushing a button or turning a switch.

Q: WHERE CAN I LEARN ABOUT ADVANCEMENTS IN GM ENGINES INCLUDING TECHNOLOGY TO IMPROVE VEHICLE FUEL EFFICIENCY?
GM has a comprehensive strategy in place to increase fuel efficiency and reduce vehicle emissions. GM is currently improving the traditional internal combustion engine with advanced technologies that save fuel such as Active Fuel Management ®, six speed transmissions, and Variable Valve Timing. In addition, GM offers a number of flexible fuel vehicles that can run on E85 ethanol, a cleaner burning alternative fuel.

GM has also pledged a broad commitment to producing electrically driven vehicles such as hybrids, plug-in hybrids, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and extended range electric vehicles. Some of these vehicles are on the road today, and many more are yet to come when the technology is ready.
